Based in Ocoee, Florida, Corona Cigar Co. uses a patented laser engraving process to customize cigars for expectant fathers, graduation parties, guests at company outings, and anybody else looking for a specialized cigar with a logo or message. The laser engraving works by slightly burning the wrapper of the cigar. The laser etches the tobacco leaf, leaving a distinct discoloration of the wrapper. The company claims that the process doesn't damage the wrapper or affect the cigar's burn or draw.


Corona is exclusively engraving its new brand of Cielo cigars. Manufactured in Estelí, Nicaragua, by Tabacalera Perdomo S.A., Cielos are available in five sizes: Zeus (7 inches by 54 ring gauge), Hercules (7 by 52), Apollo (6 by 50), Eros (5 1/2 by 44) and Poseidon (5 by 50). All of the sizes are box-pressed -- which make them easier to engrave -- and feature Nicaraguan filler and binder, along with an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper.


According to Jeff Borysiewicz, the president of Corona Cigars, laser-engraved cigars must be purchased by the box. A box of 20 Cielos ranges from $89.95 to $106.95, plus $37.50 for the engraving. The price includes an engraved box, with the same message as the cigars.
