SearchWestin Hotels go smoke FREE20th December 2005 Starwood Hotels owners of Sheraton, Four points at the Sheraton, St. Regis, The Luxury collection, The Meriden, W Hotels, and Westin, will make all of its hotels in North America smoke free starting January of 2006. The ban includes all US, Canadian, and Caribbean hotels. The ban will be on smoking in all indoor areas of the hotels (excluding restaurants owned by outside companies) and poolside, designated smoking areas outside will be created for smoking guests. Any guest who is suspected of smoking in a room will be charged a 200 dollar fine that Westin says will pay for the room to be cleaned. If you like to smoke in your hotel room, by the hotel pool or at the hotel bar then you will want to go to another hotel chain. Don't worry Westin is not concerned about losing your business they expect you to go to other hotels but feel there policy will attract enough nonsmokers that they won't miss your business.
