First time in awhile I’ve been able to sit down and smoke a cigar. This is one cigar that I’ve had sitting in my humidor about 3 months which probably did it some good consider I’ve heard several people complain about burn problems with these. Often I find burn problems don’t come so much from the construction process but how they’ve been stored and the environment being smoked in. I have trouble with cigars burning properly if the humidity isn’t consistent throughout the cigar.
Anyways I clipped this cigar and sat down to smoke enjoying this very mild January day. I had a good even burn with a nice tight gray ash that only came loose when given a firm tap. As with most Cameroon cigars, this is a milder cigar that doesn’t assault the palate. I’d put this cigar as a solid medium bodied cigar with hints of sweet spice. Most of the flavors in this cigar a very subtle and blend in very, and not real easy to pick out. The flavors hint at caramel, and nutmeg in a creamy cappuccino.
If you enjoy the Don Carlos, these fall in the same price range and close to the same flavor profile. I think the CX2 is a bit bolder or harsh depending upon your palate. I find most CAO cigars to be a bit more robust and this one is no exception. Usually I enjoy Cameroons to be of a corona size, but this one had a good balance of flavor even as a torpedo. I’ll give this cigar an 8 out of 10.
